What is intravenous fluid?

IV fluid is a liquid solution of electrolytes similar in concentration to the blood, which is given directly into the venous circulation. 

If you’re feeling under the weather or recovering from an illness, IV hydration may be beneficial for you, as it can quickly replace volume loss and electrolytes.
