What is microneedling?
Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, involves introducing a serum into the skin by puncturing the skin with tiny, sterile needles which signal to the body to produce more collagen and elastin. It’s these two proteins that give the skin its firmness and elasticity, leading to rejuvenation and improvement in skin texture and appearance.
Microneedling is commonly used to treat:

What serum or product will be microneedled?
There are many different products that can be microneedled but at MOTOX skin science we use Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP), Platelet Derived Growth Factor (PDGF), Exosomes, and/or PDO Afterglo.
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)
Often called the “Liquid Gold” of regenerative medicine, PRP uses your body’s own growth factors to accelerate healing and collagen production.
How It Works:
- A small amount of blood is drawn from your arm.
- The blood is spun in a centrifuge to isolate the platelet rich plasma.
- The PRP is applied topically onto the skin during the microneedling procedure.

Exosomes

PDO AfterGlo
PDO AfterGlo is a unique serum infused with polydioxanone (PDO), a biodegradable material that stimulates collagen production. This can be done alone, or in addition to PRP/Exosomes.
How It Works:
During the microneedling session, PDO AfterGlo is applied to the skin, allowing the serum to penetrate deeply through the microchannels created by the device. The PDO particles encourage fibroblast activity, which enhances skin tightening and rejuvenation.

Platelet Derived Growth Factor (PDGF)
PDGF is made from recombinant technology and is up to 300,000 times more potent than PRP. While PRP can give great results, because PRP varies so much from person to person, one can never predict or promise a result. However, when using PDGF there is a constant number of growth factor and therefore a more reliable and oftentimes dramatic outcome.

How many treatments will I need?
For optimal results, 3 or more treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart may be needed depending on your aesthetic goals- purchasing a package of three is highly recommended.
Appointment length: 1 hour
(You will have numbing cream for this procedure)
Downtime: Swelling and redness will be apparent for 2-3 days
You should NOT have microneedling if:
- You are prone to keloids
- Have an active infection
- Have a bleeding disorder or are on blood thinners
